Teams & Organizations

Great things happen when a group of people come together and work under a common vision. The first thing I do when working with a team is make sure they understand who they are, what they want to accomplish together, and how they are going to do this on a daily basis. This alignment is key to building a solid culture. Your members will learn engagement and how to be positive contributors everyday, no matter their role.

People are the biggest asset inside an organization. I believe harnessing the inherent value of each person drives higher performance bringing maximum results. The way this is accomplished can be captured in one word – LEADERSHIP.

Leadership is what creates culture and transforms environments. I always make sure the key components of Leading Self, Leading Others, and Following are clearly understood and embraced. I do this by spending some time on the inside, in the trenches of your organization, observing and analyzing how it functions and how your people operate with one another. I will meet your entire team, select small groups, individuals, and leaders so that we cover all the bases and work on getting your team to the next level!

Whether in life or work a person is either moving forward or backward. There is no such thing as idling because by default you are going to be falling behind as others outgrow you. Leading your Self well is a must. What do you want in life? Who are you becoming? Are you giving in to adversity or stepping up and embracing it? I believe life is about being the best version of your Self. It’s about pushing into discomfort physically, mentally, emotionally, and relationally in order to get to another level!

I decided to show up for myself a long time ago and my life and work are better for it. Diving deep into the heart and mind and truly knowing your Self is priceless. Truth be told, everyday is not all sunshine and daisies! So, I have coaches and mentors in my corner who are “for” me, offering guidance along the way.

I truly believe my story plays a significant role in equipping me to coach and mentor. Every person’s story is different; what is guaranteed are obstacles, challenges, highs and lows. I’ll walk the journey with you. What that looks like all depends on your current needs. What you can count on is, I will figure out what makes you tick and will leverage that to empower you and push you forward! Let’s set the trajectory for your life and career and get laser focused on what is next. You have the power within you for success and fulfillment! Let’s awaken change! You are worth it!

I attended both of Donna’s lectures at TASCO 2018 (Texas Association of Soccer Coaches Organization). I found both to be very relevant and extremely applicable to my high school coaching. There is a great deal of advice out there in regards to leadership and team culture and I have studied much of it. But what Donna brings is clearly  informed by years of actual in-the-trenches coaching. The knowledge she brings from that background makes her ideas the most practical, authentic, and applicable that I have seen and implemented. It’s powerful stuff that can transform any team.

Michael Nave

Head Boys Soccer Coach, Pflugerville High – Texas

The cultural transformation within our program is incredible. Donna has made a huge positive impact on our student-athletes, assistant coaches, and myself. Our athletes have totally bought into her mindset training, and have become better players and teammates. She has helped my professional development and I have become a better leader. She brings so much energy and passion to her work! Donna has immersed herself into our program. I really enjoy that aspect, she’s committed to us and it shows.

Brian Dunleavy

Former Head Coach, Georgia Southern Women’s Soccer
Current Assistant Coach, Michigan Women’s Soccer

Big D will forever be my coach, mentor and friend. Our journey began back in 2007, when I joined the UCF’s women’s soccer program. Since then, Big D has been an instrumental part of my growth and progress, not only as a player but especially as a person. During my college years, she empowered me and gave me the tools to develop the most important aspect of an athlete’s success, the mental game. Big D is a master of influence. She gives people confidence and inspires them to strive for excellence, to find greatness within themselves.
To Big D, my sincere appreciation and gratitude. Thank you for your guidance, love and dedication. You have profoundly impacted my life.

Aline Reis

National Team: Brasil, 2019 FIFA World Cup, 2016 Olympian
Pro Club: UDG Tenerife, Spain
College: UCF All-American & 2019 Hall of Fame

Big D brought a deliberate approach and a level of energy and focus that I have never experienced before. She has a unique ability to connect with every person and every presentation is a learning experience. The depth of her work and quality of her follow-up has meant that her message is always there. From a coaching perspective I learned an enormous amount from her work and have grown both personally and professionally.

Gary Curneen

Founder of Modern Soccer Coach, Louisville City FC, Former NCAA Head Coach

Big D has been working with me since I was a sophomore in college. She has helped me grow mentally in so many ways and it has taken my game from collegiate to World Cup international level. My favorite thing about Big D is she treated my mental part of the game in college as if I was already in the World Cup. She will hold you accountable, guide and push you to your limits. She is extremely easy to talk to; I’ve cried in sessions, laughed, grown and have had fun on my journey with Big D. I am able to be completely vulnerable with Big D because she understands where each player is coming from and never ever judges or makes you feel bad about yourself. Big D has been a huge part of my career and success both on and off the field.

Marlo Sweatman

National Team: Jamaica, 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup
Pro Club: Szent Mihály FC, Hungary

D is the real deal! She has an unbelievable ability to coach coaches, inspire them to connect with their players, and create a culture that brings out peak performance from players.

Bobby Puppione

Virginia Development Academy, Girls ECNL Director

Bringing Big D on board was essential for the continued growth of our program. She encouraged our players and coaching staff to be honest and understanding in how we communicate with each other on and off the field. She challenged us to self-reflect, believe and build together!

Gina Oliver Thomas

Head Coach, Cincinnati Lacrosse

One of the wonderful things Big D does is coach our coaches. She has focused on polishing the strengths in each of our leadership styles and guides us in developing new and better methods to effectively communicate with our players.

Big D’s team training is not broad based, but is specific to our needs after careful observation of practices and games. We’ve had individual players meet with her who then turn around and have immediate impact in games. Any team working with her will receive insight and training that gets results.

Alicia Schuck

Head Coach, Rollins College Soccer 2014 NCAA D2 National Champion Runner-up

The inspiration and motivation that Donna provides is priceless. She is a coach, a teacher and a true mentor to me. Donna is an excellent role model and her leadership experience and knowledge has given me a wealth of information that is not only valuable on the soccer field, but also in the business world. She presents herself in a very charismatic and professional manner. Her belief that self-confidence is a key quality leaders must possess has proven that I have to “bet on me” before anyone else will. Donna has made an everlasting impression on my life. I am a leader in large part because of her guidance and support.

Nicolette Radovcic

Associate-Sports Marketing & Sponsorship at KPMG, Former UCF student-athlete

Big D opened my eyes to the big picture.  Her efforts helped me recognize my passion for a greater purpose, and helped me grow as a strong leader. To this day, I still consider her a mentor and resource as I continue to build leaders of student-athletes. More than that, she is my friend and someone I will always trust.

Jessie Gardner

University of North Texas, Executive Senior Associate AD, Leadership & Culture Development / SWA

D is truly invested. She is accessible and responsive when asked for feedback and will provide her two cents on any ideas you have. She cares deeply about the trials and successes that a team and staff go through in a season. D is a rockstar and I feel incredibly thankful to have had her help.

Kelsy Ross

Athletic Director North Yarmouth Academy, Former NCAA Head Coach

D has been invaluable to my growth as a young, female coach. Her genuine care and loyalty to the individuals and groups she works with is one of a kind. I am grateful to have D’s honest feedback and her constant push to drive me to greatness both on and off the field. She is an exemplary role model, constantly looking for ways to better herself. I am thankful to have an inspiring friend on my side, who looks to instill confidence in everyone she comes in contact with.

Amanda Hamilton

Former NCAA Assistant Coach
Working with Big D has been one of the most valuable and important investments in my career. She has helped me to become a more patient, curious, and grounded coach. She was extremely organized, specific with her feedback and provided many relevant examples to the themes we were discussing. It was evident that there was a purpose from beginning to end. Each meeting she and I had helped guide me to having more meaningful connections with my team as individuals and as a whole. I am grateful for Big D and her continued mentorship.

Sinead McSharry

St. Lawrence University Head Coach
Donna continues to be a huge influence in my career. She ignited a spark, time and time again, as I’ve listened to many of her presentations through the years. No one is more passionate! She has a straight forward way of challenging coaches to improve by asking direct questions that make you think deeper. Donna’s message is one every coach needs to hear. She has an innate ability to say what needs to be said!

DeAngelo Wiser

Wiser Sports Leadership, KY High School Girls Soccer Coaches Hall of Fame
Big D helped bring out the parts in me that I never knew existed but were there all along. If I had the opportunity to meet her before starting my college career my mindset would have changed and my understanding would have been much clearer. My freshmen year self would have looked at things in a different light . On and off the field my mind was opened up and it challenged me to be uncomfortable and grow not only as a player but as a person. There is meaning in every ounce of your life and Big D gives you the ability to see that. I know now that gratitude is one of the most important things in my life. After graduating, her wisdom and lessons are instilled in me and are still guiding me. Love every second you are with Big D and soak it all up because it will change your life.

Donna did a fabulous job with our team and coaches. She really got to the core of the team building and leadership process with our team. We have had other leadership consultants come in and work with our team and she is by far the best we have had to this point. We are excited to see how her work impacts our team this spring and coming fall.

Hylton Dayes

Donna had extraordinary impact on the student-athletes at UCF but she also made me a better coach on a daily basis. We were successful because of the ideas and training she implemented in the program. These educational components are now helping us develop mentally strong influencers at UCLA.

Coaches & Leaders

Getting others to buy in and work together towards a common goal is not always easy.

I believe the first step in getting someone to “follow” is to connect with the heart. Once a person knows they are valued this drastically impacts the chances they will follow you. Leaders and coaches do this everyday, thus it is important we understand as much as possible about the “people” business.

When I work with coaches and leaders, it’s as if I “move in” to your office and sometimes it will feel like I’m flipping furniture over or constantly holding up a mirror. It is intense! I’m going to ask you questions no one else will ask you. These could range from why you lead the way you lead to why people don’t want to be around you. We’ll have the tough conversation!  I will challenge you to look at your team strategically from 30,000 feet and then move into the smaller details constantly searching for the “why” to everything being done. If you do the same things the same way you get the same results. And if there’s a better way for better results we will find it! We want you leading and coaching on all cylinders! I’ll provide different perspectives and fresh approaches. If you feel like you are standing in front of a locked door unable to take the next step, I have the key! We will unlock the potential in you and your team. Always remember, I am for YOU as much as I am for your team.
