I believe leadership can be summed up in one word – INFLUENCE. In life we influence. First and foremost I have to be able to influence myself. Once I am leading myself well and in an honest way, it is only then that I will be able to influence others. Following is what makes leadership special. Because people have to believe in who you are as a person before they are ever going to act on something you ask of them. Leading and following is about who you are. I believe the more transparent I am, the more people are drawn to me. We all have a story. Our lives are the story. Sharing our imperfections and challenges empowers us to be our true selves. Some people will choose to remain surface level, but I choose to go deeper. I find connection to be more meaningful when I’m curious with a person and ask questions that make them think. When you’re around me…I’m going to “make it real”. And I’m not spending time with you. I’m investing time with you.
